BOROVETS Borovets is the oldest and the biggest mountain resort in Bulgaria.
Situated at 1350 m above sea level on the northern slopes of Rila Mountain
among age-old pinewoods. Borovets is located at the foot of peak Moussala
(2925 m) - the highest one on Balkan Peninsula. Borovets is easily accessible,
being at a distance of 74 km from Sofia and 126 km from Plovdiv. Established
at the end of the 19th century as a hunting place for the Bulgarian king,
Borovets gradually developed into a modern ski resort of high class and
luxury hotels, haute-cuisine restaurants and varied leisure-time entertainment
opportunities besides an excellent network of ski runs and lifts along
the slopes of the Rila Mountain. Borovets is the Alpine resort among
Bulgarian winter resort, providing excellent opportunities for the whole
range of winter sports - from the Alpine sports to cross-country skiing,
ski-jumps and biathlon. The resort has twice hosted World Cup Alpine
skiing rounds, while its biathlon track is one of the best in the world.
The slopes have a permanent snow cover, more than a meter and a half

Pamporovo is the sunniest Bulgarian ski resort, situated 1650 m above
sea level, at the foot of peak Snezanka (1926 m), in the Rhodopes Mountain.
It is located in a region, famous for its unique folklore traditions,
within 240 km of Sofia and 83 km of Plovdiv, Bulgarian second-largest
city. Pamporovo offers wonderful skiing opportunities, luxury comfort
in high-class hotels of an original Rhodopes style, various entertainments
and varied nightlife opportunities. The gentle profile of the mountain
with its rounded slopes and summits make Pamporovo particularly suitable
for beginners and intermediate skiers, although the difficult ski runs

Bansko is situated in South-western Bulgaria, at the foothills of Pirin,
one of the most beautiful Bulgarian mountains, which is a national reserve,
included in the World Natural Heritage list. The town itself attracts
visitors by its 120 cultural monuments, its museum-houses and the permanent
ethnographic and Bansko School of icon painting exhibitions. A very interesting
sight is the Holy Trinity Church with its 30 m highball tower and clock,
splendid murals and woodcarvings. The region is famous for its cuisine
and colourful folklore and offers various entertainment opportunities.
The skiing conditions in Bansko are excellent. The Pirin Mountain has
a predominantly Alpine character with three peaks towering above 2900
m. However, the slopes offer runs and tracks for all types of skiers,
